Minutes of the Virtual/ Physical Meeting of the TSEWA National Executive Committee held at 1000 Hrs on 11 March 23

The President welcomed all present in the meeting and requested the General Secretary to continue the proceedings.
Item No. 1. Minutes of the Last NEC Meeting: The General Secretary read out minutes of the last NEC Meeting and explained the progress on each point.
Item No. 2. Appointment: The TSEWA NEC approved the appointment of Col Ajit Kumar Rai as proposed by the General Secretary.
Action: Nil.
Item No. 3. Donations for TSEWA Charity Activities: The General Secretary informed that there are hardly any funds left with TSEWA to carry out Charity Activities. Cdr Chandra Sekhar reminded the decision of TSEWA Core Committee earlier to donate Rs 500/- per month by the Core Committee Members. He suggested that all TSEWA NEC members should donate the amount accordingly so that TSEWA shall have some regular donations coming in. The President informed that the first instalment of arrears of OROP II is most likely to be credited in this month. Being the last month of the financial year, he suggested the members to donate to TSEWA at the earliest so that they can claim income tax exemption under 80G.
Action: Nil.
Item No. 4. Awareness Camp in Kerala at Trissur: The President informed that Raju P Nair, Nk, Secretary, Bharatiya Jawan Kisan Party called up from Trissur and requested for an awareness camp to be conducted there in the second or third week of Mar 2023. The matter was discussed and decided that all such requests from Kerala should be routed through Brig Suresh Nair, President, TSEWA Kerala State.
Action: Brig Suresh Nair requested to look into the issue and if TSEWA has to conduct an awareness camp, a firm proposal may be made.
Item No. 5. Penury Grant: The President explained the details of penury grant to the veterans who were discharged after 1971 war without completing Reserve service. He informed that this category of veterans without any pension are being given Rs. 4,000/- penury grant from the Flag-Day Fund being administered by the RM. He informed that a letter has been written to the RM to increase the penury grant to Rs. 10,000/- per month at par with WW II Veterans since most of them are now above 75 years old and that not many will be left beyond this decade.
Action: Nil.
Item No. 6. Recovery of Over-paid Pensions: Cmde KS Sandhu has explained the case of a family pensioner Ms Anuradha Sharma, who is not getting her family pension due to over payment of pension to her husband when alive. Col CAJ Swamy informed that RBI issued guidelines telling all the banks that not more than 1/3 of the pension should be recovered from the pensioners whenever an overpayment occurred.
Action: Col Swamy is requested to send the RBI Letter to Cmde Sandhu.
Item No. 7. Donations received by TSEWA: The General Secretary informed that Rs.1,52,000/- was received consequent to the appeal sent by the President. He also informed that Cmde Parakala donated Rs.12,000/- and Cmde KS Sandhu, President, West Zone donated Rs.10,000/-.
Item No. 8. TSEWA Welfare Activity Report: The President informed that subsequent to circulation of the Activity Report of the Help-line warriors, there has been a lot of appreciation from Members about the good work being done by TSEWA. However, there were suggestions from the environment to remove the PPO Number and Mob No of the Veteran beneficiaries. The matter was discussed and agreed to. There was also a suggestion that the report may be made quarterly. Maj (Dr) Bhikshapathy was requested to look into the issue and promulgate the revised format for reporting.
Action: Maj (Dr) Bhikshapathy is requested to circulate the revised format to all NEC/Help-line warriors.
Item No.9. OROP Anomalies: The President informed that a fresh letter was written to the RM including non-payment of New X Group Grade pay of Rs.6,000/-to Pre-2016 Veterans who held Diplomas recognized by AICTE.
Action: Nil
Item No.10. Appointment of Sub Rajendra Jamia: Col Srikanta Seshadri informed that Sub Rajendra who retired from ASC Center is keen on helping the veterans and may be appointed as District President for Indore, Ujjain, Dewas and Sajapur. Brig Vinayak Ramanarayan, President MP may kindly speak to him and send recommendations.
Action: Brig Vinayk Ramnarayan to send recommendation.
There being no further points, the meeting was closed at 12:10 PM and decided to hold the next NEC Meeting on 25 March 23.
