Points from Col MK Veeramani, President Charity Division

Col MK Veeramani informed that Col Nagesh Gupta of US has sent an  email, that the name “Madhuri Sewa Fund” has not been mentioned in the minutes of our meetings when a donation was made from that fund. This point was discussed between him and the treasurer. It was brought out that since we are going to apply for exemption under 80G, (50% exemption in Income Tax on donations), we may not get exemption under 80G if it was shown that the donations were directly from Madhuri Sewa Fund and not TSEWA. Col MK Veeramani and the treasurer both that in the noting sheets as well as the financial records, it is clearly indicated that the donations are from the funds donated by Col Nagesh Gupta on behalf of the Madhuri Sewa Fund. A total of Rs 4  lakhs has so far been donated by him, Rs 3 lakhs last year and another Rs 1 lakh in this financial year. Col MK Veeramani said that consolidated details of all the charity done by TSEWA from Madhuri Sewa Fund will be  put up in our Blog for the information of all.

President suggested that all copies of the Noting Sheets, the details given in our Blog and also extract of the details given about Madhuri Sewa Fund should be sent to Col Nagesh Gupta (Rtd).

Col Veeramani gave the summary of the donations given by Col Nagesh Gupta, and other donors, and also the actual amount  spent from Madhuri Sewa Fund and other donations under different heads.During the FY 2017-18 Col Nagesh Gupta gave Rs 3 lakhs. Out of that Rs 2,66,855/- have been spent during the last FY.

During the FY 2017-18, from donations from others,  a sum of Rs 3,47,059/- was given as Charity for other purposes.

During the FY 2017-18, from donations from others, Rs 1,22,194/- was spent as donations towards medical expenses of beneficiaries.

During FY 2018-19, Col Nagesh Gupta donated Rs 1 Lakh. Out of the balance left out  of last year’s donation and this year’s Rs 1 lakh, donation, we have spent  Rs 92,000/- for educational purposes.

During FY 2018-19, from donations from others Rs 1,88,500/- was spent for financial assistance and Rs 1,15,000/- spent on assistance for medical expenses.

Action to be taken by Col Veeramani, Treasurer.

Points from the President

President gave a detailed presentation with examples that the OROP given to us w.e.f. Jul 2014  is only a one time increase in pension and not actual OROP. With statistics he proved the difference between correct OROP and the one time increase in pension given by the Government. The Govt of India is saving crores by not giving OROP.

President requested that all of us should meet on 13 Aug to finalise the details of 19 Aug meeting. By that time it will be known as to how many members will attend. All administrative arrangements can be done after that.

There being no other point President thanked all and the meeting ended.

Brig CS Vidyasagar (Rtd)
President, TSEWA
